I purchased a few pages from Mr. Freddie E. Williams awhile back....had them scanned.
After working the thatching on Pheonix I felt inspired to tackle this one as well.
Pentel brush except the dots...you can't do that with it
It didn't cross over to the computer as neatly as the others...so it is a bit darker than how it really turned out.

I think you're going to have to bust out the nibs or small microns, I suggest the nibs honestly, to do the cross hatching and finer lines. If you're using one brush/pen or head size to ink the whole thing, even for practice sakes, switch it up.
I think you don't have problems with the speed factor, but staying true to the artists original pencils and fine line work is going to be hard. I think the line quality and fine line work is getting lost with the brush pen a tad.
My two cents worth of personal critique. Otherwise though, you're still doing it more often and better than most people in your shoes. Ok, fine, I'm going back to work. Keep it up James.
