Hey guys....we just had Thanksgiving Day here in Canada...and I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank-you to DA and my watchers and friends here. Thank You! :D
I've never really made a big deal about numbers and such, but I am truly honored by the amount of page views and followers I have acquired these past few years.

As of writing this journal, I am about to reach 4000 watchers. That is staggering for me! Thank you for the support!
When I first joined DA in the summer of 2008 I was a complete newbie to the inking craft. I'm a firm believer that if you really are passionate about something, anything, you will succeed. I poured myself into learning. It wasn't until 2010 that I really started taking the craft seriously. I have always said thanks to SeanE for kicking my ass and pushing me to ink more. It made me really push myself to get better...and the only way to do that is by daily practice! I honestly tried to ink a page each night. It took me many months and attempts to even finish a complete page....I'm not even sure when I got to the point that I was confidant enough to look at a page and say, "I can and will finish this"  without hesitation.
To date I probably have 500+ pages in boxes and binders. This practice and experience has brought me to where I am today...and believe me, I am still learning and have much more to learn!
I also want to extend a huge thanks to all the talented pencil artists that I have inked over. I never want to take credit for great looking art....the original pencil artists did that. I was, and am, always just trying to do their wonderful lines justice.
So for all the artists out there that are learning, whether it be pencils, inks , or colours...keep doing it! Do it because you love it....if not, you will fail. We all have weaknesses and limitations, but the only way to overcome them is to keep pushing ourselves. Experience is built that way. Don't give up. I have had many times I have wanted to throw in the towel, but I look back now and am grateful for where I have got to...and am excited to see what the next years will bring.
So with that, I will get back to pushing my pens around the paper!

Hi there! Haven't updated this bio since I joined, lol!
My name is James Goodwin and am a self taught inker. I've been at it since 2008.
Currently am inking cover art for Zenescope Entertainment.
My love for the craft and almost daily practice has brought me to the level that I am at now...still learning everyday.
Check out my older inks in my gallery to see how bad I was, lol ;) But, as I mentioned, a desire to better myself and practice definitely helped!
Through my growing process, I have always made hi-res inks available for colorists to practice on. If you find my inking something you wish to use for color practice, please do :D Just be sure to see my Terms of Use below. Crediting the artist involved is very important.

apexabyss Jack Lewis made the very cool lineart for this many years ago...and I had inked it many years ago, just a re-visit to re-ink this one.
Subtle differences form my first inking. I tend to work much slower now; concentrating on the details.
Download for 300dpi *Please read and follow my terms of use* Thanks!

Ok, so here is the scanned inks of my daughter's first ever inked page! She is 12, but has been helping me on pages and trying her own inks for a few years now. She never finished a whole page until now.
AllPat Alan Patrick made the very cool cover art for Zenescope a couple years back.
I tried to let her do everything on this. I did ink the outline the leg of the creepy dude to give her a visual reference of line weight. I told her to match his hand and head and then make the lines progressively thinner as she got further back in the image. I think she did a fantastic job :D
She is very excited to get inking another will see what happens next!
If you feel like coloring this, download for 300dpi *Please read and follow my terms of use* Thanks!

Hey guys....just had to share something with you! Kind of a proud poppa moment here, lol...
Some may know that my daughter Nicole, who is 12,  has been experimenting with inks. She did some assists on a published cover last year and has been drawing and inking things. So, I was quite surprised when she found these blue lines in my stack of pages and wanted to work on them. Not the simplest page to ink. She had the day off school today, so am guessing between last night and today...probably spent at least 6-8 hours working on this. I'm amazed and impressed at her dedication to complete this! Pretty cool! :D
